September 4 - Colin Stewart did not disappoint with his top picks: recommending the steadfast Apple (AAPL), CargoJet (CJT) again (almost 3% higher today than the recommendation price), and a relatively unknown surprise in Pollard Banknote (PBL), which closed up 12% today from yesterday's recommendation price.

August 31 - James Hodgins' top picks were a beaten up old favourite in Merus Labs (MSL), a small Venture stock that's never been on our radar before in Titanium Transportation Group (TTR), and a relatively safe dividend paying REIT in American Hotel Income Properties (HOT.UN).We made a quick 3% in Merus Labs and a small 0.50% in American Hotel Income Properties but did not touch Titanium Transportation Group due to the wide spreads and fact that it was already up over 7%.

Augst 30 - A nice lineup of Marketcall guests this week: James Hodgins (Monday), Michael Sprung (Tuesday), Brendan Caldwell (Wednesday) and Colin Steward (Thursday). These guests talk about a lot of stocks that do not get much attention, from small-caps to value stocks, so they are all worth watching. If you subscribe to our premium service you can see from our BNN guest analysis that James Hodgins' picks do often move nicely after their recommendation since they are small to mid-caps, however since the recommendation his last 9 picks are all down except one: -46.15%, -20.33, 18.13%, -41.54%, -30.10%, +7.75%, -16.57%, -14.47%, -24.03%. These results are actually incredible in their consistent underperformance even in weak markets, so his picks might be worth a look long initially, then short afterwards. The other guests all also have had some interesting movers in their past picks, but don't generally produce moves quite as dramatic.

Augst 26 - One of our favourites Stephen Takacsy did not disappoint provided some interesting top picks: Ten Peaks Coffee (TPK), Badger Daylighting (BAD) and Directcash Payments (DCI). Ten Peaks Coffee does not get much analyst or investor attention so as expected it rose significantly after the recommendation. Directcash Payments has suffered but is growing and pays a great dividend. Both companies are riskier plays worth a trade or a small position.

All of these three names produced incredible returns if you bought and held through the next day (5-15%)!

August 25 - Eric Sprott, who now also covers small-caps, stuck with energy names as his top picks: Crescent Point Energy (CPG), Northern Blizzard Resources (NBZ) and Torc Oil & Gas (TOG). Crescent Point is one of our largest energy positions and although we own it at much higher levels and the dividend has been cut we still continue to hold in anticipation of eventual improvement in oil prices and stocks. Northern Blizzard Resources is a lesser known name worthy of a trade.

We made a nice 12% gain on Northern Blizzard!

August 25 - The growth stock expert Jason Donville stuck with some of his typical pharmaceutical names and a food company as his top picks: CRH Medical (CRH), Valeant Pharmaceuticals (VRX) and MTY Food Group (MTY). CRH Medical is often one of his top picks so no surprise there, especially since it has fallen well off the highs. Valeant continues to rise high and be a TSX darling, but is just not a name we like to trade due to the high price and associated wide spreads. MTY Food Group is a relatively unknown TSX name that may continue to rise as it gets more attention, but it is not overly attractive at these levels.

CRH had incredible double digit moves before and after the recommendation (although this was helped by strong markets).
